These black and white images of bodies by Matteo Colla, created through elegant printing by hand, evoke abstract, even spiritual photography with a closely linked interplay of material, its tradition in form and thought, through a careful and in-depth work of “removal”, attested by the few elements present in the work: the body, light and shade. The image fulfils its role as an evocation, a line, a ‘profile of light’, a ‘black mask’ and as elementary and archetypical geometry.
